David Martin

Senior Systems Engineer, IP/Optical Networking Business Group, Nokia

David is currently leading the Layer 1 Connectivity Services project in MEF that enables service providers to offer standardized MEF 3.0 Optical Transport services. At Nokia his focus is on enhancing the service capabilities of the metro transport portfolio. He has over 35 years of experience in telecommunications. While at Nortel and Ciena, David held system advisor and architect roles for optical transport and Carrier Ethernet platforms, working with development teams on new product definition. This included many related strategic standards efforts encompassing Carrier Ethernet equipment and services, as well as OTN evolution to 100G. Previously he led an exploratory group in Bell-Northern Research, investigating control plane restoration solutions and methods for carrying data over transport. Prior to this David worked on the system design of three generations of optical platforms. He began his career in microwave field engineering with a company now part of Zayo. David holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto and is an IEEE Senior Member.
